Dr. Zachary Mang grew up in Los Alamos New Mexico where he played baseball, football, and hockey through high school before graduating in 2009. From there, he played baseball at Otero Junior College and Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences (2014).

Zack always had a passion for the weightroom and an obsession for the role it played in boosting athletic performance. This drove him to attend graduate school at the University of New Mexico (UNM) where he secured a Master’s degree (2017) and Doctoral degree (2021) in exercise physiology.

After finishing his PhD at UNM, Zack completed a post-doc for the Wellness Team at the Los Alamos National Laboratory where his daily tasks consisted of conducting research, fitness testing, personal training, coaching group exercise, and presenting on a variety of health and fitness topics.

Currently, Zack works as a strength and conditioning coach for the Albuquerque Baseball academy where he facilitates the physical preparation for youth, high school, college, and professional athletes. This is where he met the highly-esteemed Dr. Romero and the opportunity to join Walk Off Rehabilitation and Performance surfaced.

As an academic, Zack has over 30 publications in exercise physiology that touch on a myriad of topics from heat acclimation, cardiovascular and metabolic responses to circuit training, and the effect of movement tempo on hallmark resistance training adaptations such as hypertrophy, power, and strength. He has also had the privilege of speaking at several conferences including those facilitated by The American College of Sports Medicine and National Strength and Conditioning Association. As a practitioner, Zack has trained a variety of populations including baseball players, firefighters, and general-population clients ranging in age from 10-70 years old. Zack is equally fascinated by the science and application of exercise physiology and always provides evidence-based approaches to his programming.

There are several services that Zack brings to the table:

-        Mobility and core stability training.

-        Resistance training for hypertrophy, power, and strength.

-        Velocity-based resistance training.

Besides the science and application of resistance training, Zack has several hobbies that include golfing (poorly), reading, hiking, living and dying with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and re-watching classics like The Sopranos and The Wire for 5th, 6th, and probably 7th time.
